News UK — Digital Security Awareness Campaign

The brief
Brought in to help reset cyber security messaging and awareness across one of the UK’s largest news media groups — a genuinely unusual brief, since the challenge wasn’t building a customer-facing brand, it was making a mandatory internal security programme something staff would actually engage with rather than click through and ignore.
The build
Custom illustration and a distinct tone of voice built specifically to make security concepts land with people who aren’t security specialists — simplifying without patronising. That visual direction carried through interactive training modules and workshop materials, tailored to the specific risks and daily workflows of a large newsroom and publishing operation, rather than a generic off-the-shelf security awareness pack.
The result
Security training that reads as something worth paying attention to, not a compliance checkbox — the difference between staff engaging with the material and staff clicking “mark as complete” without absorbing any of it.
