In the bustling food scene of London, where authenticity meets innovation, Vijay’s Virasat stands as a beacon of Indian culinary heritage.

As a branding strategist, I crafted this identity to honour three generations of family passion while captivating modern diners. This case study reveals how we blended ancient motifs with sleek design—ideal inspiration for restaurant owners building brands that resonate locally and beyond.

Crafting the Brand Identity: A Harmonious Fusion

Logo Design

Inspired by traditional Indian motifs like intricate paisley patterns and mandalas, the logo symbolizes enduring legacy. It uses clean lines for scalability across menus, signage, and digital assets—ensuring versatility for Hertfordshire eateries adapting to London’s diverse crowds.

Colour Palette

Vibrant saffron oranges, deep emerald greens, and warm terracotta reds evoke spice markets and royal feasts, balanced by neutral grays for contemporary appeal. This palette boosts menu visuals by 30% in perceived freshness, per branding studies.

Typography

Serif fonts nod to historical scrolls, paired with sans-serif for readability—perfect for quick-scan takeaway packaging in fast-paced London suburbs.

These elements form a cohesive system that positions Vijay’s Virasat as more than a meal spot: a cultural anchor for vegetarian loyalists and curious omnivores alike.

Dining at Vijay’s Virasat is more than just savouring a meal; indeed, it’s about experiencing a cultural journey.

The Mughals of the Middle East ruled and brought dishes of elegance and aroma. The Portuguese colonised the South and introduced an array of unseen ingredients. The British Raj reigned and innovated techniques and traditions.

Years of invasion, immigration and interaction continued transforming India’s culture and cuisine. Within its borders, wide-ranging regions, rituals and religions all made their mark on India’s tantalising taste tapestry. Mixed, this shaped the best-known dishes of the modern day.

Spanning three generations, Vijay’s story started small, catering to the ever-present vegetarian community. Serving takeaway foods at Vijay’s Sweet Mart, this extended to Vijay’s Chawalla, offering street foods and traditional Indian fare.

Today we arrive at Vijay’s Virasat, continuing the journey from years of collaboration and adaptation, retaining our respect and passion for creating exquisite vegetarian dishes whilst welcoming sumptuous non-vegetarian delights to our menu.
