Website design and SEO, built as one thing, not two suppliers who never talk
Most businesses hire a designer, then an SEO agency to fix what the designer never thought about. I build the site and the search strategy together, so it's engineered to rank and convert from the first line of code, not retrofitted after launch.
Why design and SEO should never be two separate suppliers
A designer who doesn't think about search builds something pretty that nobody finds. An SEO agency handed a finished site can only tweak the edges. Built together, each decision serves both from the start.
SEO built into the build, not bolted on
Site structure, headings, speed, schema and internal linking done right during the build, not patched over afterwards by someone who didn't write the code.
Technical SEO handled properly
Core Web Vitals, crawlability, clean markup and fast delivery: the foundation an SEO campaign needs, and the part most designers skip.
Content and structure that ranks
Pages built around what people actually search for, not just what looks good in a mockup, so the site earns traffic instead of waiting for it.
One accountable person
No pointing between the design agency and the SEO agency when rankings don't move. One person owns both, so there's nowhere for the problem to hide.
Two suppliers, or one system
The common approach
- A designer who never thought about search
- An SEO agency handed a site they can't change
- Rankings that stall because the build fights them
- Each supplier blaming the other
- Paying twice for a joined-up result you never get
How I do it
- Search considered from the first wireframe
- The person optimising it also built it
- A fast, clean foundation SEO can actually move
- One person accountable for the result
- Design and SEO as one project, one invoice
FAQ
Do you actually do both the website and the SEO, or just one?
Both, genuinely. I build the site and handle the search strategy myself. That's the whole point: the two decisions are made together, by one person, instead of handed between suppliers who never speak.
How is this different from hiring a web designer and an SEO agency separately?
Separately, the SEO agency inherits whatever the designer built and can only work around it. Built together, the structure, speed and content are right from the start, and there's one person accountable when rankings need to move.
Will the site actually rank, or just look good?
Both is the target. Ranking is a foundation question, speed, structure, clean markup, content built around real searches, and those are build decisions, which is exactly why doing them together works.
