Web Design / Freelance UK

A freelance web designer who designs it, builds it and stays on it

When you hire a freelance web designer, the quality of the project comes down to one person, so it matters who. I design the site, build it and look after it afterwards, working with businesses across the UK by call, shared screen and in person where it helps.

Why a freelancer

What you get when the designer is also the person you speak to

The usual agency chain is an account manager, a designer, a developer and a project manager. Each hand-off loses detail. Here there is one person, from the first call to launch and after.

Design and build together

The person who designs the page is the person who builds it, so what you approve is what goes live.

Brand work included where needed

Logo, colour, type and guidelines, so that your website and your brand agree with each other from day one.

A clear price before work starts

I scope the work first, then tell you what is included, what is not and what a change would cost. The budget goes into the design and the build, not into layers of management.

Support after launch

Updates and changes come from the person who made the site, not from a support queue.

Whoever you hire, the question is the same: who will actually do the work, and will they still be around after launch?
What changes

The usual agency route vs. a freelancer who does the whole job

The common approach

  • A pitch team that vanishes once the contract is signed
  • Briefs relayed through an account manager
  • A fee that carries the overheads of an office and a sales team
  • A site handed over to a support desk

How I do it

  • The person you meet is the person who does the work
  • You brief the designer directly and get answers directly
  • Fees spent on design and build
  • Ongoing support from the person who built it
Questions people actually ask

FAQ

Do you work with clients outside Hertfordshire?

Yes. I am based in Hertfordshire and work with businesses across the UK. Most of a project runs over calls and shared screens, and I can meet in person where it helps.

Is a freelance web designer right for a larger project?

It can be, if the scope is clear. I tell you early if a project needs more people than one, and I am straight about that rather than overpromising.

Do you design logos and brand identity as well?

Yes. I work on brand identity, logos, rebranding and naming alongside websites, so a project does not need two suppliers.

How much does a freelance web designer charge?

It depends on what the site has to do. I scope the work first, then give you a clear price, so you know what is included, what is not and what a change would cost before work starts. My website design cost page explains what moves the price.
